The best repeatability possible (1d) and compliance with USP, Ph.Eur, GMP, GLP standards obtained thanks to the magnetic compensation cell.
Calculate Minimum Weight Eu.Ph. (2.1.7)Eternity series analytical balances are characterized by a resolution of up to 0.1 mg. They are robust and reliable thanks to the magnetic compensation cell and overload protection. To ensure repeatability in the readings, the weighing operations must be handled with accuracy. We recommend that you always use gloves or tweezers.
How do you weigh on an analytic balance?
All ETERNITY series scales are equipped with a magnetic compensation cell that guarantee their quality and high repeatability.
To meet documentation requirements, it is possible to obtain a printout that includes: a header (e.g. company name), the instrument model, the serial number, the date and time . Furthermore, a dedicated space is reserved for the operator's signature in addition to the weighing results. Through the use of the password lock function available on the scale, falsification of timestamps can be prevented.

In order to analyze a solid or liquid sample, or in the dosage of the components, the first operation to be performed in the laboratory is the weighing and a balance is required. The choice of the balance is essential to obtain an accurate result.
Analytical balances Eternity series are used for:
The Minimum Weight of a balance is determined by the environmental conditions, by the location and by its magnetic cell. The minimum weight is the lower weight limit where the calibration uncertainty meets the required accuracy . Below, the data read is not reliable.
To determine the minimum weight with clarity and accuracy, the calibration operations must be carried out in the instrument's working environment.
In the pharmaceutical field, the determination of the minimum weight derives from the repeatability usually performed at 5% of the instrument capacity. The Gibertini Quality service is able to provide the Minimum Weigh value during calibration or installation operations.
The new chapter was published in July 2021 and entered into force on January 1, 2022.
During calibration, a relationship is established between the known values of the certified test weights and the values measured by the balance. Chapter 2.1.7 states that “... the instruments must be periodically calibrated [...] by the user or by a suitable competent body”. There are three requirements established in the Ph.Eur. (2.1.17):
The calibration of an instrument according to the Eu.Ph. (2.1.7) must be performed by an accredited center. The Gibertini 17025 calibration service guarantees competence through its LAT094 accreditation.
A test load not exceeding 5% of the maximum capacity of the balance, or at least equal to 100 mg, is used to check the repeatability. The weight is placed 10 times on the weighing pan, zeroing the instrument before each measurement.
For Sensitivity, a certified weight between 5% and 100% of the scale capacity is set and the indication is detected.
The smallest possible sample weight on a laboratory balance is related to the minimum weight (R), which is 2000 times the standard deviation. Therefore, if the calculated standard deviation turns out to be s = 0.25 mg, the minimum weight will be R = 500 mg.
Below is the table of the minimum possible weights for the Eternity analytical balance

The analytical balance of the Eternity series with division 0.1mg is a valuable instrument in an ink management laboratory to achieve the desired shade, you need precise definition of the quantity of dry ink applied. In fact the intensity of the tone of the print depends on the concentration of pigment in the ink and on the amount of ink applied.
In the flexible packaging sector, the thickness of ink applied for each color varies from a minimum of 0.5 to a maximum of about 3 microns (the thickness of most bi-oriented plastic films varies between 10 ÷ 30 microns).
Given the density of dry inks, with the exception of white and metallic inks, these values correspond to approximately 0.6 ÷ 3.3 g of dry ink / m2 of printed film. The material taken for the measurement is normally 50 cm2 (for ease of handling) and therefore it is necessary to be able to accurately weigh product quantities in the order of 3 ÷ 16.5 mg of applied ink. Variations of 10 ÷ 20 % on these values can be relevant in obtaining the expected result.
The balances of the Eternity series are used to determine the presence of metal in water for human consumption, and in wastewater according to the EPA 200.7 and 200.8 method, therefore it is necessary to use an "analytical balance capable of measuring up to 0.1 mg, for use in weighing solids, for the preparation of standards and for the determination of dissolved solids in digestion products or extracts ".
