Assembly
ℹ First use only — The device is shipped with the battery disconnected for transport. Insert it only once at installation. Do not disconnect and reconnect the battery during normal use.

Insert the Li-Ion battery into the side compartment until the snap click.

Screw the PTFE tube to the threaded fitting. Hand-tighten only — do not use tools.

2

Charging

First Charge

Connect the USB-C cable to the side connector.

Full charge: 3–4 hours.
Operating autonomy: over 10 hours in normal use and 100 hours in standby.

3

First Start

First Start

Press and hold PWR for 3–4 seconds until the display starts.

Configure in sequence: Language (IT / EN / DE / FR / ES) → Date & TimeUnits (g/cm³, kg/m³, °API, SG; °C or °F).

4

Cell Cleaning

Cell Cleaning

After each session or when changing sample. For each solvent repeat 3–5 cycles of aspiration/expulsion.

Solvent Application
Deionized water Aqueous and sugary samples
Water + 70% ethanol Spirits and wines
Isopropanol (IPA) Oils and fats
Acetone → IPA + water Difficult residues

Always proceed from the least aggressive solution to the most aggressive. Do not leave organic solvents in contact with the cell for extended periods.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on your workflow: USB Extractor is recommended for environments without wireless connectivity or for periodic batch exports. Logger Excel is ideal if your primary workflow is based on Microsoft Excel. Script Runner is the tool for applying custom configurations prepared by a Gibertini technician — install it when you receive a .mds file from support.

Logger Excel is a macro-enabled Microsoft Excel application that records measurements directly into the spreadsheet via Bluetooth BLE. A simple solution for users who already rely on Excel as their primary tool.

Logger Pro is a standalone professional platform for data acquisition and management: it supports multiple instruments via BLE, automatic quality limits with GO/NO-GO alarms, PDF/Excel reports, full traceability and application modules for 9 vertical sectors. License activation is required.

For any customer who receives a .mds configuration file from a Gibertini service technician. Script Runner lets you independently apply the custom configuration of your MicroDens in just a few clicks, with no technical expertise required. It is also the program for independently updating the MicroDens firmware and the BLE Dongle Key firmware, directly online with a single click.

Yes. MicroDens is a fully autonomous instrument: it stores up to 2,000 timestamped measurements directly in circular internal memory, without requiring a PC or network connection. A PC is only needed for data export or advanced method configuration via Script Runner.

Select the appropriate solvent based on the sample type and repeat 3–5 aspiration and expulsion cycles:
  • Deionized water — aqueous and sugary samples
  • Water + 70% ethanol — spirits and wines
  • Isopropanol (IPA) — oils and fats
  • Acetone, then IPA + water — difficult residues or sample class change
Work from the least aggressive to the most aggressive solvent. For final cleaning, leave the cell dry with air or ethanol.

A single reading can be influenced by residues from the previous sample still present in the measurement cell. MicroDens integrates SmartStabilizer, an automatic stability detector that analyses consecutive readings in real time:

  • Learning  — SmartStabilizer has detected a sample change (or a rinse) and is acquiring the first readings: fewer than 3 consecutive readings are within tolerance.
  • Detected  — 3 consecutive readings are within the instrument's tolerance range: the value is stable and reliable.

When the status turns green, that is the signal to the operator that the result can be saved with confidence. Saving is always a manual choice: press SAVE on the display to record the measurement.

All MicroDens software is compatible with Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit). macOS and Linux are not currently supported.

The Serial Number is printed on the adhesive label on the instrument body. Format: MD##### (e.g. MD24001) or ##YY##### (e.g. 012400001). It is required for product registration and for communications with technical support.

Gibertini technical support is available directly from the manufacturer:
